An Evening with Katie Koestner

PHOTOGRAPHY BY BILL HOENK

On Thursday, activist and educator Katie Koestner joined A Safe Place Nantucket for their summer fundraiser. Koestner, who rose to national prominence in the early 1990s after openly speaking about her experience as a victim of date rape, discussed her personal journey with sexual violence, as well as the topics of consent and prevention. Koestner has worked with a number of organizations and institutions to promote education and policy change. She is also the founder of Take Back the Night Foundation and Campus Outreach Services, organizations focused on addressing sexual violence and supporting survivors.
