Lifesavers Recognition Day

The annual Lifesavers Recognition Day, hosted by Egan Maritime Institute and Nantucket Cottage Hospital, was held on Wednesday, September 11 at the Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum. The event honors heroic lifesaving efforts by everyday citizens who went above and beyond the call of duty to help others. This year's honorees included Seth Engelbourg, Erin O'Brien, Tyler Herrick, and Gaven Norton, along with his team at ACK Surf School, who were recognized for assisting lifeguards with several water rescues off the south shore. The Maurice E. Gibbs Commendation Award was presented to Kaitlin Collins for providing medical care to an elderly man who fell from his bike. Nantucket lifeguards were also honored.
