On the Water

As summer settles in, Nantucket Harbor is alive with activity. Luxury yachts and sailboats are finding their temporary homes in the harbor's moorings. Visitors drawn to the waterfront are greeted by a wide selection of maritime activities, from fishing competitions to sailing lessons to marine wildlife excursions. Our Nantucket About Town staff recently hopped aboard the Topspin Fishing charter led by Captain Carl Bois. Located on the town pier at 34 Washington Street, Topspin offers fishing trips of various lengths to groups of up to six people, combining the thrill of angling with picturesque oceanic vistas. During our outing, Bois shared insights about the local marine ecosystem, behaviors of different fish species, and techniques to optimize the chances of reeling in prized catch.
