AAN Big Gallery Opening

On July 1, 2022, Artists Association of Nantucket held an opening reception for its latest exhibition at the Big Gallery, located in the historic Thomas Macy Warehouse on Straight Wharf. In April, AAN returned to the warehouse after 33 years, and has since been displaying artworks by Nantucket artists on the building’s second floor in what the organization has called the Big Gallery, a tribute to AAN’s Little Gallery that occupied the small, shingled building next door for about fifty years.

The Modern Epic Gigantic Artworks exhibition is the most recent exhibition to grace the walls of Thomas Macy Warehouse. The exhibition features some of AAN’s artists’ biggest pieces with a strong abstract presence, but beautiful oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings of the island’s oceans and beaches also made it into the show. The event opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony conducted by some of AAN’s leadership and staff.
