Sconset, known for its rose-covered cottages, spectacular ocean views and an iconic lighthouse, can be found on the eastern end of the island.
There are two bike routes from town, and depending on which bike path you take–Milestone Rotary or Polpis Roadzit’—a 10- to 12-mile bike ride to the village. Each path offers stunning views of Nantucket’s diverse ecological splendor. Stop and visit cranberry bogs, the windswept Serengeti and Nantucket’s highest point, Altar Rock, all on trails accessible from either path. The WAVE bus also offers two routes to Sconset, departing from the Greenhound Building in town, taking approximately 30 minutes. Once in the village, you can walk the “Cliff Walk,” a public footpath along the bluffs, and visit the famous Sankaty Lighthouse. The beach is easily accessible as well, just a five-minute walk from the rotary, under a 90-foot-long footbridge.
