Bowdoin & Lynx

photography by bill hoenk

Nantucket was treated to a remarkable display last week as the historic schooner Bowdoin sailed into the harbor during its first-ever visit to the island. Built in 1921 for Arctic exploration and research, Bowdoin arrived in the harbor to an already-anchored tall ship Lynx, a replica of a privateer ship from the War of 1812. Lynx has called Nantucket home for several months now, offering tours and educational programs to the community.
