Nantucket Pride Month

June is LGBTQ Pride Month, celebrated each year to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan. The designation is meant to recognize the sweeping impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer individuals have had on the United States and around the globe. Here on island, Nantucket Pride has put together a series of events to celebrate Pride Month including dances, a youth-oriented film festival, an open mic night, mixers, and more. The festivities began on Friday with an opening bash at Cisco Brewers, featuring live music by Boston singer Zane Christopher, and continue through this week. Photos also feature Sunday's car parade that left Jetties Beach and wound its way up Main Street before heading out to Nantucket School of Design and the Arts (NISDA) for a pot-luck picnic.
